Minutes of Staff Meeting 14th April 2008-04-16

MATTERS ARISING:

The Rockcliffe Vist was postponed and we have no feedback yet from the UQ visit which was due to take place Wednesday 8th April.

ITEMS COVERED:

1 WEBSITE – http://www.mysticacademy.org

a) Dragon reported the new website is ready to go live pending the approval of the guides. All guides present gave it the go-ahead.

Rian asked why we would move our information source from the library to the website – but the information will be available in both.

The advantages of the website are that ppl do not have to log into SL in order to access what is happening in MA and therefore can plan easily which events etc they wish to attend. Dragon also reported that with the new SL browser (part of the new SL viewer) the website can be accessed within a window when in world.

b) Testimonials – Dragon asks all guides to collect feedback about the Academy –and to IM it to Elborath or to contribute it directly to the website through the contact form – http://mysticacademy.org/ma/contact Remember to ask for permission to put the feedback on the website. If there are negative comments guides are also asked to forward on or send them via the contact form. Please ask for feedback at the end of classes. Students can be encouraged to give feedback directly to the website themselves via the contact form. ACTION: All guides/Elborath

c) Pictures: Dragon asks all members to send any pictures they have of the Academy from the past – Rydal or Immortal Woman to Elborath as it is intended to have a historical album in the picture gallery on the website. ACTION: All members/Elborath

2 RADIO:

Mystic Stream started Monday 7th and was opened very successfully by StarRose. Dragon would like to hear from anyone interested in streaming live for Mystic Stream, or contributions in the form of pre-recorded material. There are technical issues which need to be addressed, but many members are skilled in streaming. Anyone interested in having a presence on Mystic Stream please contact Dragon or Elborath. Times and days of the week are flexible. We need to begin program planning. Jophiella will stream music and talk on Mystic Stream but needs some training beforehand.

3 VENDORS:

Dragon announced that there will be vendors established in the free space upstairs in the Academy. He would like these vendors to carry predominately Mystical goods with an emphasis on those created by MA members. He would also like a ‘taster’ of the goods carried by the Bazaar so that the two outlets are interactive. The ppl using the space will be charged ground rent. This is a necessary measure to ensure we can meet tier to Manon – at the moment we have a shortfall. Arianna has the lead on this and she will be working with GreyWolf and FireStaar on this. ACTION: Arianna/GreyWolf/FireStaar

4) QUESTIONNAIRE:

Jane Atkey is working on a Market Research questionnaire which she will send out on 15th April to all guides.

5) RESEARCH SURVEY:

There is a researcher doing some work on asking teachers about SL who will pay 250$L for doing a 10min survey online. Notecard with details attached.

6) TOTEM POLES:

Sharman Kharg is giving some totem poles to MA to be erected on the front lawn. One will be specifically designed for MA. StarRose also has a totem pole she will donate.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS:

1) Dragon reported that he has put MA stats on the website. The can be found on the ‘Events Page’
2) StarRose reported that Torley Linden has asked for MA videos to put up in Flickr. Dansz will do video editing. This to be taken up – ACTION: Dragon/StarRose/Dansz/all guides.
