Unfolding Perfectly
I had the pleasure to be able to attend the meeting yesterday. With a curious crowd in attendance Dragon shared the vision of the MA along with some new ideas.
A summary of this meeting will be posted shortly so I will not repeat what was shared. However, I was struck by the warm reception to the ideas that were shared, and the meaningful questions that were asked. It is clear that there is an active and passionate community that is the MA.
One idea that did get shared was related to communication and how we connect around SL. What is clear to me is that there is a need for communication for various purposes:
- Communication is needed for the MALT (MA Leadership Team) to connect and to discuss and resolve operational opportunities
- Each of the respective operational teams will likely need to communicate. For example, a team coordinator may wish to communicate with their team members to discuss work that needs to get done. In addition, some teams may need to communicate with each other
- Processes such as applications to teach and/or deliver workshops will likely require communication
- The MA community might value a place to make and discuss suggestions for improvement
- And finally, newcomers that discover the MA will likely have questions for the community in order to build their understanding
I see the new structure and revised processes as a fantastic opportunity. At the same time there is a clear drive for transparency in communication. During the meeting yesterday it occurred to me that one gap in the structure for MA was showing - that being a need to Collaborate.
I think it is important thaat as we evolve into this new incarnation that we consider collaboration needs (such as structure and processes listed above) and to analyze technology that would support the needs. In addition, some analysis is needed to get very clear on what is needed and then right solution should be selected from there. Perhaps the MA website will end up having a discussion board? This would serve as a useful tool to support the many-to-many communication that is very likely to come from the MA evolving as it is, whilst offering an opportunity for transparency. For example, everyone might be able to 'read' all threads, but only identified participants can 'write' to a given team or process thread.
At any rate, I invite you to keep an eye out for the minutes to come and to consider what is taking place. If there is anything that jumps out at you, that triggers a question on your part, do not hesitate to ask.
Know the Flow as you go,
