Hi Everyone,
This forum is about our upcoming Love Festival on August 2-3, 2008.
StarRose Merlin, Jophiella Willis, Lailu Loon and Denon Kanto may be contacted directly by those of you whom may have the need or issue.
Denon and Lailu have most kindly offered to head this grand affair, and many thanks to them for it :)
Both have very extensive RL background in organizing and running large events, and we are most blessed by this opportunity.
Within this Forum all ideas, comments, concerns and of course inspirations or offers may be posted!!
We intend to post all developments here about the Festival and encourage everyone to keep checking back as events and plans evolve and unfold.
In a nutshell :D we have a 60s-70s themed Event with Love as the title and heart.This shall span 2 days tentatively, and be situated all across the Spirit City and Matara sims.
There shall be live Theatre with Lailu already offering to give a excellent excerpt from her popular and succesful previous performances on SL and in RL. We shall let her announce the exact specifics, so check back often!!! This and other performances may be in voice so be prepared.
In addition we are currently seeking and will be(hounding) live musicians for both days, if you or someone you know wish to participate on this aspect, please let the above mentioned people know, thank you.
Poetry readings, discussions, Art, and workshops, all is welcomed,contact Denon Kanto or any of the others if this is your thing, and you would care to share.
We are also seeking a nice poster to be made up very soon, so if your talents lie in this area, let StarRose Merlin or Jophiella Willis know asap.
As for residents of Spirit City and Matara, this is your chance to shine and strut your stuff !!!
Have your talents and offerings in the spotlight, for all Second Life to know and enjoy!!

The Love Festival seems to be generating a lot of interest, and even excitement, in discussions. It is hoped that this enthusiasm is wide-spread and we can pull off a memorable event.
Our first official meeting of the Steering Committee is scheduled:

I love this idea! I'm a daughter of the Flower Power generation... my parents weren't that much hippies, but some of my aunts & uncles were, and I remember as a kid I loved it! It actually seemed the right thing for me... amazing!
So, about the workshops... if the rest considers it proper & useful... I have two proposals:
1) About actually living non-violence. Reflections about practical ideas to modify our attitudes and lifestyles without completely abandoning our current city lives. I mean, not everyone will move to the wild and leave everything behind... (I would).
2) About the Slow Living Movement: this is another nowadays way to react to violence in this world, in the form of hurry and stress. On this subject I'm a newbie, but I can search for someone interested in hosting a chat.

In the Summer of Love in 1967, about 100,000 young people converged on Haight-Ashbury (San Francisco) creating a phenomenon of cultural and political rebellion. This is when the Flower children (hippies) first came into public awareness. They brought new ideas, ideals, behaviors, and styles of fashion to the world.
The flower children were long-haired, radical-looking young people who wanted a society based on freedom, love, peace, equality, beauty, and simplicity. They sought spontaneity, direct personal relations expressing love, and expanded consciousness.
Looking back on those times, I'm sure you will agree that our world can benefit now by following those same values.
The Mystic Academy Love Festival will be a celebration of those values. We want to bring back the genuine feeling of love and community that the flower children experienced -- to serve one another as a human family and to raise the consciousness of those we touch.
Help us to create a program for the Festival that will allow people to reach out and help one another. It is my vision that we use this Festival to raise consciousness, and party while we are doing it.
Please talk to others. Find a way that you, yourself, can contribute your time and energy. And, share your ideas with the committee -- StarRose Merlin, Jophiella Willis, Lailu Loon, and myself, Denon Kanto.
